For our third day we drove for a couple of hours before hitting upon a campsite where there was an aires at a cheap rate or the option to pay a bit more for full access to the site. The heat had finally arrived and you will see in the photo the ground looks very different, more parched, more shrubs and less grass. That meant we opted to go for the luxury of the campsite with its pool, showers, games and spacious pitches.
Alison says this is her favourite spot in France and I can understand why. It was wonderful to sit in some shade with a beer and to enjoy the warmth, the peace and to be able to walk over to the pool to cool down. The children loved it too, with Joseph keen to play table tennis and badminton.
The site is run along principles which benefit the enviroment and the produce was organic which made for a lovely meal later in the day when we decided to give ourselves a treat and to have the set dinner.
