Big game beckons as glory boys thunder on

We enjoyed yet another win last night as Sparkshop smashed their way to a 6 - 0 romp against the 2nd bottom placed team. Despite their lowly position they had previously managed to keep things relatively tight and were losing by the odd goal in most games. That all changed last night in the dusky atmosphere of Wimborne.

Fresh from 2 more simple victories in which new Matt had broken a Matt Coombes' leg (but not our Matt) and we'd managed to hold a team to 0 - 0 despite being two players down for most of the first half before going on to win, we started confidently.

Chances were created throughout the game whilst the defence stood firm in the face of a fairly limited attack from the Dark Knights. Dom was still out with his broken finger whilst the big fella was ensnared in work matters leaving us lining up as:

Rich, Dave, Matt C, 5 pint Pete, Phil, Kev, new Matt and Iain

The first goal came from a long through ball which I managed to slide between the legs of the advancing keeper and that was quickly followed by a thunderbolt from our resident long range specialist, big Phil as he let fly from distance. A great shot which found the corner with aplomb.

Moments later it was three and this time it was a tap in as good work down the right left new Matt a yard from goal, the keeper nowhere. The next goal, our fourth and still in the first half, was crafted by the skillful Pete with a beautifully flighted ball from the right flank. New Matt powered home a thumping header to the far post and that was game over.

Despite the ease of the game, there was a real flow to the football on show as the creative flair of the team was expressed in a joyous passage of fiesta soccer. A great individual run, Gascoigne like apparently, 1996 vintage, saw new Matt claim yet another goal as his march to the golden boot saw him put further distance between his tally and the efforts of the rest of us.

There was time for a final goal with a fine move which saw new Matt square the ball from Matt's throughball and into the path of a flying Kev. He lashed the ball high into the net leaving it bulging like the pants of a fat man on his birthday when it falls on Christmas day and he wants a cake for both occasions.

One game to go and it will decide if we finish 3rd, 2nd or even 1st!!! What a prospect as 2nd play 1st for glory. Kev is so up for it you would not believe.
