Moors Valley ride

Just 1.5 miles on the dog walk at 6.30 this morning but a much better prospect in terms of weather for the day ahead. Even so it was chilly when I got on the bike down to Moors Valley but it was worth the ride as there were plnety of birds around. On the lake itself was a great crested grebe, a great white egret and a couple of cormorant, one of them in the tree above the far end with wings outstretched to dry its wings.

There was a lot of bird song too and signs of spring are everywhere with bud and leaf and flower evident all around.

I stopped to meet up with Alison at her mother's on the return trip and I filled the vird feeders before doing some more tidying of the shed at the back which is looking in pretty good nick again now. Once more I found plenty of junk, things kept just in case and of no real value or use any longer but there was plenty to enjoy too with a couple of lovely old wooden boxes with paint brushes and old fashioned geometry tools. They look good for decorating and playing with and the children will get some good use out of them, as will we in the case of the brushes. There was also a gas lantern and a parafin stove which Joy explained had been kept in case of power cuts with an eye on being able to make a cup of tea.

Juno and I walked to the village hall and back on a litter pick before lunch and then I did the top of the hill afterwards but without the encumberance of the dog this time.

On my return home I joined Alison in the garden where she was weeding and tidying. I cleaned the motorhome toilet properly and have finished the spring cleaning now. It is ready for the season ahead. I also got on with a few outside jobs too before we enjoyed an outdoors cup of tea in some sunshine and out of the colder wind.

Beach walk

We all seem to be ill. Maria's dance showcase on Saturday evening was great but since then it has been downhill. Alison has been in bed...
