Junior Parkrun

It was lovely to be up and out early to join Joe, Kate, Evie and Amelia at Moors Valley for Junior Parkrun, something we were doing regularly before lockdown but obviously cancelled during the pandemic. In light of next week's walk I am trying to keep moving but with as little effort as possible which meant I got on the mountain bike today and coasted down to the start at Moors Valley, just under 5 miles in half an hour.

I met up with the others in time for the warmup which was well attended with numbers high after such a long period without the opportunity to participate. The organisers have kept the age limit down to avoid having too many take part, so Maria couldn't do it at present, not officially anyway.

Amelia was a revelation. Last time out she was in a push chair most of the way and very timid but today she ran almost the entire mile and a quarter which is fantastic, and did so with a smile on her face. It was such a pleasure to get together in this way and I can see Amelia has a natural stamina and determination which will stand her in good stead should she wish to continue running more seriously as she gets older.

I cycled home at the same leisurely pace which gave me a good workout without causing me to feel tired. Now for a quiet day at home with Maria until four when Joseph arrives for a sleepover and then a day with Evie and Amelia joining us too.
