Running, cycling and walking

I can tell you with absolute confidence that the brown blob in the middle of the final photo is one of three brown hares I saw as I walked round Cranborne this afternoon and in the photo before it, that is one of the two red kites I saw. If you can't tell them for what they are, it isn't my photography that is hopeless, it is your knowledge of British nature. It is actually my photography though.

It was a very pleasant 14C as I did a two mile loop of the fields round Cranborne before the school pickup and it was exciting to see so many interesting birds and animals.

The 5km run was completed by 7am and was nice and slow after the recent rides and runs but I was up for a short ride later as well and sped round the Edmondsham loop, 6 miles as quick as I could manage. I was almost two minutes slower than my best time which was in 2014 when I had recently ridden to Paris and was at my fittest. However, it was considerably quicker than many previous rides. At just 15mph av speed, there is room for improvement, probably when the weather is warmer and the wind is more gentle.

Lots of cooking and made a start on the garden wine bottle holders which are going to be gifts in a few weeks time. Nice big slices of tree trunk with a length of branch stuck in to provide the holder. I will be adding a slot for a tea light and a hook for a lantern.

One other development today, we booked a few days away on the Gower peninsula and it is just before our August Bank Holiday trip to Cornwall. Plenty to look forward to.

Beach walk

We all seem to be ill. Maria's dance showcase on Saturday evening was great but since then it has been downhill. Alison has been in bed...
