Weekend update

We are well and truly back from our trip up to the border of Herefordshire, near Mortimer's Cross, and I will be adding a post for each of our days away during the coming week. It was a wonderful few days in lovely weather and just idyllic, one of the most enjoyable places we've ever been. The children absolutely loved it too and are keen to return.

Over the past days we've been getting things back to normal in terms of the house, tidying, washing and cleaning, making sure the pets are all well and the jobs which require attention are getting that care.

Yesterday, Saturday the 1st of August, was good for getting the birds fed, the lawn cut, a trip to the allotment to collect lots of veg and quite a lot of raspberries too, collecting Joy and bringing her back for lunch, watching the cup final, sorting out the campsite at Watergate Bay where we are headed in a few weeks and ordering a few things online.

Today, I walked Maisy before setting off on a 5.25 mile run, hedge trimming, collecting Joy for lunch again, repairing the scratches to the side of the motorhome and tidying the pond. Bust but fun.

The break meant I was behind previous mileage cycling and overall for July in comparison with the previous two months. I had run quite a bit further but the shortfall in rides meant I totalled just over 260 miles. Whilst away I had a brief 6 mile ride which was hard work due to the hills, a 5km run and an 8 mile ride to Shobdon for some groceries. Not much compared to the usual routine but nothing to be upset or frustrated with. You can't keep going further every month and there has to be time to enjoy the experiences life brings in full which sometimes means indulging oneself, even if only for a short while.
