I was a little concerned that the constant sunshine and high temperatures would have done for much of the produce at the West Moors allotment but it seemed almost unaffected. I have heard that watering sometimes causes roots to come to the surface where they are more vulnerable. Left to themselves they reach deeper into the soil and can survive better. How true that is in general and concerning specific plants, I don't know. However, I managed to come away with:
Potatoes, the last of the peas, spinach, lettuce, runner beans, french beans, tomatoes
and was excited to see so many butternut squash growing vigorously. The toms were amazing and there is going to be a glut. They tasted fantastic too.
What will we find in Wimborne?
