I will start with a confession. I didn't get up until after 7.30 today which is incredibly late for me these days but I had a little too much to drink last night whilst watching Bournemouth secure promotion to the Premier League and then the Liverpool fightback against Villareal to ultimately cruise through to the Champions League final. I blame it on the Stella that Joe bought at the weekend.
Once up and about I did take Juno out for a walk but was soon in the car to the allotment at Wimborne where I strimmed the grass, dug our another small bed and planted the runner beans. All good fun and then I watered the newly planted seeds which emptied the black wheelie bin which we use to collect water in. I was going to wheel it over to the pump as the lack of rain recently has meant it is empty and that is when I noticed the next with 4 eggs which sat neatly under the overlapping rear of the bin. It is a wonderfully secure location and I'd never have thought to look there. How lovely. Not sure what bird has nested there but will keep an eye out.
From there I drove to West Moors and weeded lots again, planted more runner beans, put in tomatoes and squash already doing well having been plated at home by Alison. I got more seeds in as well; turnip, coriander, rocket, lettuce, parsley and transplanted a few more stray strawberries.
There was time to get out for a run too which took me out to Holt Heath, 4 miles in total, and in the company of Ali Smith in the form of Companion Piece on Audible.
The CCTV at Joy's house is now in place permanently and I managed to remove the bath chair device which has been upsetting her so much recently, a chair designed to lower her safely into the bath but which she claims not to need. She seems to genuinely believe she has a bath but it has been months and she quite literally cannot manage to get in or out. However, there is no point just upsetting her, particularly when you know she won't use it ever.
