I think I managed to cover more miles in 2020 than the previous year because of the amount of cycling, thanks to the allotment I imagine. However, there were several periods of inactivity which meant the step count was lower.
In 2019 I'd averaged 16388 steps a day but it fell to 14975 this year. I just couldn't get it back up after a disastrous February when I'd got ill early on and suffered from flu meaning I was exhausted for weeks, not doing much even when I started to feel better.
On the bike I did 1247 miles compared to 820 the previous year. Running looks like 1063 miles in 2020 compared to 1137 miles in 2019.
Total in 2020 was 2310 miles against 1957 in 2019. As I mentioned, the cycling accounts for that rise with the regular rides to the allotment, between 16 and 20 miles depending on route, probably most responsible. It may be lockdown helped too with the roads feeling safer.
I've started walking more as well, partly due to just a straight forward determination to explore the locality more extensively, but also due to no longer being able to walk Maisy far. She is going to be 16 soon and doesn't go far and even when she goes for a walk, it is slow going. I do the short dog walks therefore interspersed with longer walks with Alison or on my own.
Average running speed was 9.23 for a mile in 2020, down on 9.07 in 2019. That makes sense, I have been far less obsessed with getting under 9 minute miles and am going off road more often too, often a slower experience.
I had expected to be swimming more often having taken out gym membership which included access to the pool at QE but the virus put paid to that and I have definitely decided running inside is no longer an option, I have to get outside even when the weather isn't at its best. The fresh air and sights are more than compensation for cold and wet.
