Dartmoor Day Two Part Two
After Lopwell Dam, we drove the short way to Buckland Abbey, the home of Sir Francis Drake after the dissolution of the monastries by Henry 8th. Maria was awake during this part of the day and enjoyed Drake's drum and a look at the chickens and the restaurant.
There is a lot of restoration work going on presently and since we last visited, 20 years ago at least, an Elizabethan garden has been excavated and is being planted up with vegetables and herbs.
