A welcome day of jobs

With Rag going back to Glen later in the day and the children at school, the cider event done and nothing else on the calendar, I had a lovely morning just getting on with things. Rag, Juno and I were out by 6.30 with dawn bringing red skies in the first light and a huge flock of rooks and jackdaws waking noisily overhead. Once home I got the cannelini and kidney beans cooking, along with chickpeas and have made hummus with the chickpeas and will use some of them with the kidney beans for chilli later. The cannelini beans are for boston style beans, kind of barbecued beans. I also got a loaf made and a dozen nut burgers for during the week.

Juno and I had a run completing 3.5 miles before walking the final half mile to warm down and then I was back into vacuuming downstairs, cleaning the toilet, cleaning the utility room and getting the recycling sorted out. I even managed to get the back lawn cut before heading out on my bike for a few miles round Woodlands, making the most of the still warm weather, at least in the middle of the day.

Next it's trying to fix a kettle switch, vacuuming upstairs, raising the handlebars on my bike and making the tea. It might sound like a boring list of chores and a bit of exercise but it is absolutely perfect for now. We've been so busy for months, especially going away so often during the summer, that being at home doing the mundane is a welcome change.

Beach walk

We all seem to be ill. Maria's dance showcase on Saturday evening was great but since then it has been downhill. Alison has been in bed...
