Rome - Day Five
After seeing the sights for the past few days, we decided to check out what Rome had to offer in respect of gardens or greenery and walked out to the Villa Borghese where the gallery for the Raphael Exhibition was being held. We weren't intending to go to the museum, simply to relax away from traffic and tourists for a while.
Once again it was a searingly hot day but nevertheless Glen wanted a football to kick around so I set off from the park back into the city centre looking for a suitable shop. It took me a clear hour before I had any luck although I could have bought a Man Utd or Juve ball for 45 euros!
The park was very attractive and had lots of water points to fill up and keep the heat at bay to some extent. Alison and I had a walk around leaving Glen and Joe kicking the ball about. On our return, Joe had hurt his toe and found Glen quite irritating meaning he now wanted to simply go back to the hotel which meant a 45 minute walk up the Via del Corso which is very straight and long. You can see from one end to the other easily.

The walk took us into the Piazza del Popolo which was an incredible place and is pictured above.

We got back to hotel and patched Joe up and remained there for the rest of the day. The two days proved going out with the boys in the middle of the day was not a good idea, too hot and too much looking at things for them to enjoy what was happening. Much better to allow them time at the hotel in which to relax, read and play.
