Despite the lure of the world cup quarter final between England and Portugal, we played the match at the usual time albeit with weakened sides. Burley have managed a couple of innings of over 200 recently but they were restricted to 118 thanks to four wickets from Ali and another five for John. I was restricted to just a short spell of bowling with the effects of the groin strain.
We changed over late as tea coincided with the start of the second half of the football. At 90 minutes it was agreed to restart play and I was aksed to open the batting. Suffice to say I was able to watch most of the second half of the football following an almighty heave which was either going to launch the ball into orbit or see me getting out. Sadly the latter was the case but we managed to stumble to victory with two wickets to spare. Not exactly convincing but better than England who maintained their form in penalties. Sven has made them more consistent at least.
Verwood remain second.
